On Language and Silence
Like a wave of sound, the individual rises as a curve of its own being. Expressing itself as form, yet never departed from its silent foundation— which is ever-present.
Words, by their very nature, are limited.
As vehicles of communication and description, they tend to reinforce the framework of the known—
the one who perceives, the thing perceived, and the act of perception.
They help us deepen our conceptual understanding,
but rarely do they let us dissolve it.
And yet, there are moments when something slips through.
A line of poetry, a song, a sacred verse—
not clung to for its meaning, but felt for its resonance—
can stir a recognition beyond the grasp of thought.
It’s not the word, but what breathes through it.
What vibrates behind its sound.
We have shaped language not only to describe,
but to carry frequency.
And in that frequency, a deeper current moves.
A single phrase can open a doorway—
not into explanation, but into spaciousness.
Some scriptures—like the Gospel of Thomas, the Devikallotara,
among many, many others—
carry this quality.
Words that echo inward,
until they dissolve into vast silence.
Until only devotion remains.
This is the paradox of expression.
It is not that words can contain the ineffable—
but they can point.
They can gesture beyond themselves.
They can open a subtle space in which something deeper is felt.
They can prepare the heart to receive what cannot be said.
Silence comes first.
Though even that is not quite right—
since the word silence is already shaped by the idea of sound.
What is pointed to cannot be held in contrast.
It simply is, before all division.
Language, then, becomes a sacred risk.
To speak without grasping.
To listen for the unsaid.
This is the beauty of mantra.
Not as doctrine, but as vibration.
To repeat a syllable like AUM—
inwardly, outwardly, again and again—
is to invite the mind to take on its scent.
Meaning begins to dissolve into presence.
And presence begins to color the whole field of being.
Therefore, surround yourself with beauty.
With people whose words are strong, forgiving, and kind.
Awaken your heart with songs your soul longs to hear.
Speak your truth. Be bold—or even awkward.
Your whole being is frequency.
Let life align you with it, in transparency.
